Princess Iman of Jordan Welcomes Twin Daughters, Naming One After Queen Rania
Princess Iman of Jordan gave birth to twin daughters on Friday, 14 August 2026, the Royal Hashemite Court announced in a statement published on its official website, rhc.jo.
The announcement congratulated Princess Iman, her husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, King Abdullah II, and Queen Rania on the arrival of the twin girls. The Royal Hashemite Court is the administrative body that issues official communiqués on behalf of the Jordanian monarchy The National.
In a joint statement, Princess Iman and Mr Thermiotis revealed the names of their twin daughters: Talia and Rania. The second name carries a clear family connection — Rania is the name of Iman's mother, Queen Rania of Jordan Hello!.
The twins join big sister Amina, making Iman and Jameel parents to three daughters. Princess Iman, the elder daughter of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, married Jameel Alexander Thermiotis in March 2023.
For King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, the new arrivals are their third and fourth grandchildren. Their first grandchild — also named Princess Iman, the daughter of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa — was born in August 2024 Hello!.
What gives the naming choice its quiet weight is the tradition it sits within. Jordanian royal families, like their European counterparts, frequently name children after parents or grandparents, and the decision to call a daughter Rania while the grandmother herself sits as queen consort places the newest arrival squarely inside that pattern.
