eBay has appointed Renee Paradise as global general manager of fashion, effective 25 August, handing her leadership of a category that generates more than $10 billion in annual gross merchandise value — the total value of goods sold through a platform in a year. WWD

The role is a homecoming. Paradise worked at eBay from 2014 to 2019, including a stint as senior director and general manager of fashion, during which she was identified as a senior director of eBay Fashion in a company announcement of a holiday curation partnership with model Emily Ratajkowski. eBay Inc. She left eBay for Bloomingdale's, where she served as senior vice president of customer and revenue growth, and later became chief digital officer at Neiman Marcus Group, the Texas-based luxury department-store operator. She joined Neiman Marcus in 2021 as senior vice president of digital business and customer strategy before being elevated to the CDO role, and subsequently served as interim chief digital officer at Veronica Beard, a New York-based contemporary label. For the past year, Paradise was a senior adviser at McKinsey & Co., the management consultancy, where she had earlier spent a decade and served as associate principal. She reports to Chris Prill, vice president of focus categories at eBay, and will be based at the company's New York office. WWD

Her mandate is expanded. Paradise will lead eBay's global fashion business across both luxury and non-luxury segments, shape the platform's fashion marketing value propositions — the reasons a shopper picks eBay over a competitor — and strengthen collaboration with Depop, the resale platform aimed at Gen Z buyers that eBay acquired in 2021 for $1.2 billion in cash. The appointment lands as eBay has been pushing fashion into the cultural conversation through a string of curated events and partnerships. The platform has held exclusive fashion events where celebrity stylists opened their personal collections, announced its first Community Sneaker Drop featuring rare pairs and trending collaborations, and published a Spring/Summer 2026 Watchlist Trend Report on pre-loved fashion shopping trends. eBay Inc.

What makes the hire worth watching is the scale it sits atop. eBay's fashion business moves more than $10 billion in goods a year — a figure that puts it in the same conversation as major department-store chains, even if the marketplace model means eBay never owns the inventory it sells. Paradise's experience spans both sides of that divide: the platform side at eBay and Depop, and the retailer side at Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus, where she was responsible for digital strategy at a company that does own what it sells.

For shoppers, the practical effect may be a tighter link between eBay's main marketplace and Depop's younger, trend-driven resale audience — two platforms that have operated somewhat independently since the acquisition closed.
