Netflix Greenlights 'Weight To Date': A Dating Show Built Around Extreme Weight Loss

Netflix has greenlit Weight To Date, a reality dating series following roughly ten to twelve singles as they navigate dating after extreme weight loss. The show comes from The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), with co-CEOs Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman executive producing alongside Jeanne Begley. Deadline reported the order on 18 August 2026.
The format tracks participants through their weight-loss journey and into the dating world, exploring how identity shifts when a person's body changes dramatically. It is a docu-format — meaning a documentary-style approach to unscripted storytelling rather than a competition or game show.
For Holzman and Saidman, Weight To Date is their first sale since leaving Sony Pictures Television, where they served as President and Co-President of the studio's nonfiction arm. The pair now run IPC independently, and this project signals where their newly autonomous company is pointing: character-driven reality with a specific emotional hook.
IPC is already a known quantity at Netflix. The company produced Indian Matchmaking, which ran for three seasons following Mumbai marriage consultant Sima Taparia as she paired singles and families seeking arranged marriages. Netflix's unscripted slate has also earned critical recognition in this territory: Love on the Spectrum, a dating show following adults on the autism spectrum, has won seven Emmys, including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program twice.
The subject matter in Weight To Date arrives at a particular cultural moment. Conversations about dating after major weight loss have proliferated across TikTok, and the rapid growth of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs — medications like Ozempic and Wegovy that have reshaped the weight-loss landscape — has brought the experience of dramatic body transformation into mainstream discussion. The show will follow people during and after that transformation.
Netflix has been building out its unscripted roster with other recently reported titles. The Leftovers, from Jersey Shore producer SallyAnn Salsano, follows a group of friends from New Jersey. Arizona Hot, from Banijay's Brightspot Content, tracks a circle of friends from Arizona. Both were reported by Deadline alongside the Weight To Date order.
No episode count, release date, or production timeline has been announced for Weight To Date.
