Netflix Developing 'Weight to Date,' a Docuseries-Style Dating Show Tied to Weight Loss

Netflix is developing a dating series with the working title Weight to Date, which follows single people through extreme weight loss journeys while they look for love, Variety reported on 18 August 2026.
The show is currently casting contestants over 18. No episode count, release date, or premiere window has been announced.
The Intellectual Property Corporation, known as IPC, is producing. Executive producers are Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman and Jeanne Begley. IPC's credits include documentary and unscripted series across several platforms, and the company has a track record in factual television rather than glossy competition formats.
What sets Weight to Date apart from Netflix's other dating shows is its tone. The series is described as closer to a docuseries than a high-concept dating format, in the mould of Love on the Spectrum, which follows adults on the autism spectrum navigating relationships with a documentary camera rather than a structured game. That approach signals a gentler register than the elimination-and-twist mechanics of something like Love Is Blind or Too Hot to Handle.
Weight to Date will join an unscripted dating slate that already includes Age of Attraction, Love Is Blind, Temptation Island, Love on the Spectrum and Too Hot to Handle. Netflix has invested heavily in unscripted formats over the past several years, treating dating and relationship television as a core pillar of its original programming rather than a side bet.
For viewers, the premise touches two of reality television's most enduring subjects, weight and romance, in a single show. Whether the docuseries framing softens or sharpens that combination is something audiences will judge when footage arrives. For now, the project is in development, with casting open and production details still under wraps.
