Olivia Colman Joins Only Murders in the Building Season 6 as the Show Moves to London

Olivia Colman has joined the sixth season of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building, revealed in a video posted to the show's Instagram account on 18 August 2026 featuring Selena Gomez, Meryl Streep and Martin Short. In the clip, Streep says the show is missing one guest star — and Colman appears in costume. Variety
The new season relocates the amateur detective crew to London to investigate the death of Cinda Canning, a storyline set up in the Season 5 finale. Production has been under way in the U.K. since May 2026 and was still ongoing in August, according to Marie Claire. A release date has not been set.
Colman is the latest name in a sprawling Season 6 cast list that reads like a roll call of British and Irish acting talent. The additions include David Tennant, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Jim Broadbent, Jennifer Saunders, Geri Halliwell, Nicola Coughlan, Simone Ashley, Jodie Whittaker, Peter Capaldi, Derek Jacobi, Richard Ayoade, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Kathryn Hunter and Lesley Nicol, among others. Sean Teale, Rhea Norwood, Amar Chadha-Patel, Matthew Beard, Jane Horrocks and Adrian Lukis round out the new arrivals.
Returning for the new season are Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Meryl Streep and Michael Cyril Creighton. The series was co-created and is written by Martin and John Hoffman, who executive produce alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, Jennifer Crittenden and Gabrielle Allan. 20th Television is the studio behind the show.
For a programme that started as a New York-set murder-mystery comedy, Season 6's London move brings a change of scenery — and a guest roster deep enough to fill an entire West End season. Colman, an Oscar winner and a familiar face on British television, slots into a cast that already added Streep in an earlier season, making the guest-star ladder one of the show's signature pleasures.
Hulu has not yet announced when Season 6 will stream.
