Xbox and Ikea Are Teasing a Furniture Collection — and the Internet Is Already Confused

Xbox and Ikea have posted a teaser video on their official Instagram accounts showing close-ups of Xbox-themed furniture, confirming what the two brands called, in text at the end of the clip, a furniture collaboration: "so we're teasing furniture" VideoGamesChronicle.

The video itself is light on detail and heavy on silhouette. A green cushion shaped like an 'X' — or a D-pad, the directional pad on a game controller — appears in close-up. So does a stool or table shaped like an Xbox analogue stick, the small thumb-operated joystick on a controller, complete with a glossy finish around the trim VideoGamesChronicle. The teaser ends with the two brands' logos side by side Parade.

When is the full reveal? Reports have pointed to August 26, 2026, tied to Gamescom, the annual games trade fair held in Cologne, Germany Parade. Neither Xbox nor Ikea has officially confirmed a date.

Part of the confusion traces back to a seemingly AI-generated image that circulated showing the products on a showroom floor with a message reading "official reveal at Gamescom." The image depicts a "D-Pad Cushion" and an "Analog Stick Stand" that look nothing like the items in the actual teaser video, according to VGC's comparison VideoGamesChronicle. So even the leaked product names are suspect.

This is not Ikea's first foray into gaming furniture. The Swedish retailer previously collaborated with ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG), a gaming hardware brand, on a line of gaming desks, chairs and accessories sold under Ikea's own gaming range Ikea. That collection is still on shelves in many markets.

Nor is it Xbox's first turn at novelty homeware. In October 2020, Microsoft made full-sized Xbox Series X fridges — a literal nod to the console's tall, rectangular shape — and sent them to influencers and celebrities VideoGamesChronicle. After fans asked how to get one, Xbox confirmed plans to produce and sell a mini-fridge version, which launched in 2021 as a tie-in with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's energy drink brand, ZOA. For now, the teaser video is all anyone has to go on. No price, no release date, no product list — just two logos, a green cushion and a glossy stool. Until the official word lands, anything more specific floating around carries the fingerprints of an AI image generator rather than a press release.
