Arsenal Close In on Ezri Konsa as Transfer Gap Narrows
Arsenal are accelerating their pursuit of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa and there is growing optimism at the Emirates that a deal can be reached, according to BBC Sport.

Konsa is a centre-back comfortable across the back line, able to slot in at right-back when needed — the sort of defensive versatility that appeals to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who values players who can fill multiple positions. A boyhood Arsenal supporter, Konsa has been capped by England and has been a consistent performer for Villa since joining from Brentford in 2019.
The pursuit has been building for weeks. Journalist Isaan Khan reported in July that Arsenal were preparing a bid, noting the gap between the two clubs' valuations, while Matt Law had previously covered Arsenal's interest. Each round of reporting has brought the same picture into sharper focus: Arsenal want Konsa, Villa want top dollar, and neither side has blinked yet.
There is a knock-on effect. If Arsenal secure Konsa, they will allow Ben White to leave the club this summer, according to sources cited by Yahoo Sports. White, a versatile defender who has been a mainstay of Arteta's back line, could be moved on to make room — a sign that Arsenal see Konsa not as squad depth but as a starter.
