Mexican filmmaker Alex Kahuam, best known for the single-take thriller Failure! starring Ted Raimi, has signed with Zero Gravity Management, according to a Deadline exclusive published 19 August 2026. He will be represented by the company's David Romero.

The signing brings a writer-director with a deep indie horror résumé under one roof at a time when his pipeline is filling up. Kahuam has spent the last 14 years making independent films in the United States, operating through Kahuam Films, the Los Angeles production company he founded and runs as CEO (Variety).

His films have travelled the genre-festival circuit with regularity. Failure!, shot in a single 87-minute take and believed to be the first American feature made without cuts by a Mexican filmmaker, screened at the Tallinn Black Nights film festival. Forgiveness played at FrightFest. The Remedy appeared at SXSW London and the Cannes Fantastic Pavilion — the genre-focused pavilion that sits alongside the Marché du Film at Cannes, where sales agents pitch upcoming titles to international buyers (Deadline).

Kahuam's most recent production, the horror-slasher House of Holloway, wrapped in February 2026 and is now in post-production. The film follows a family of serial killers competing to claim their next victim among six guests trapped in their secluded home. The cast includes Laura Marano, Doug Jones, Orlando Piñeda, Courtney Grace, and Bonnie Aarons — the last two names well-known to genre audiences for The Nun franchise and related horror fare. House of Holloway is set for a festival run in 2027.

Beyond that, Kahuam has two further projects on the slate. Stay With Me is described as a supernatural psychological horror film set against the backdrop of a music festival. An untitled sci-fi horror project, described as being in the vein of Alien, is also in development. Neither has a production start date attached (Deadline).

What makes the deal worth noting is the volume. A signing like this usually means an agent sees enough material — finished, in post, or on the page — to build a multi-year strategy around a single client. Kahuam arrives at Zero Gravity with one completed feature awaiting its festival premiere and two more projects already taking shape. That is a full slate for a filmmaker operating outside the studio system, and it gives Romero something concrete to sell.

Zero Gravity Management is a Los Angeles-based talent and literary management company whose clients work across film and television. For Kahuam, the arrangement adds a representative to the business side of a career that has so far been self-driven through his own shingle. The next visible milestone will be where House of Holloway lands on the 2027 festival calendar.
