Steven Soderbergh is bringing his film-and-cocktail series "A Man Under the Influence" to London this autumn, pairing nine hand-picked classic films with drinks built around his Bolivian brandy, Singani 63. The series runs every Thursday from 3 September through 30 October at Everyman's cinema in The Whiteley, presented by Singani 63 and the British arthouse chain Everyman (Variety).

Each Thursday opens with a 63-minute happy hour featuring a menu of Singani 63 cocktails, followed by a film paired with a cocktail inspired by that evening's picture. A different top London bar takes over the drinks each week. Soderbergh introduces every film in a short video recorded for the series. Guests will also be the first to try the "Spiced Soderbergh Sour," a bespoke signature cocktail — and from late September, that same drink rolls out to all 49 Everyman cinemas across the U.K. (Variety).

The nine films span nearly a century of cinema, one from each decade: Ernst Lubitsch's Trouble in Paradise (1932), Hitchcock's Notorious (1946), Dr. Seuss's The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T (1953), Joseph Losey's The Servant (1963), Jaws (1975), Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing (1989), the Coen brothers' Fargo (1996), Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation (2003), and Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread (2017). All were chosen by Soderbergh himself — films he regards as personally and culturally influential (Variety).

The London run follows a sold-out edition earlier this year in New York, presented with Nitehawk Cinemas from 18 February through 15 April. That series carried the full title "A Man Under the Influence: 63 Days of Steven's Selects" and marked Soderbergh's 63rd year (Variety, 2 Feb 2026).

Singani, a grape-distilled spirit from Bolivia, entered Soderbergh's life on the set of Che in 2007. He met the Granier family, who produce the spirit at their Casa Real distillery, and together they launched Singani 63 in 2009 (Variety). What started as a personal discovery has grown into a brand that now sponsors its own screening series on two continents.

As part of the London launch, Singani 63 will be sold at all 15 stores run by Amathus, an independent family-owned drinks specialist, with promotions including signed bottle giveaways, Everyman membership prizes, and tastings. Everyman's own website confirms the series dates and venue (Everyman Cinema).

Soderbergh's pitch, in his own words: "Ask yourself: Can I resist the idea of a classic movie, Singani 63, and the groovy Everyman vibe all happening at the same time? The answer is, No, you cannot, so get your butt to The Whiteley on Thursdays this fall and let's light this candle!" (Variety).

For London filmgoers, that is an invitation to spend nine autumn evenings with one of contemporary cinema's most eclectic curators — a director whose taste runs from Lubitsch to the Coens — and a glass of Bolivian brandy in hand.
