Anna Lunoe Signs Worldwide Publishing Deal With BMG
Australian electronic music artist Anna Lunoe has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with BMG, the company confirmed on Thursday, August 20 (Billboard).
A publishing deal, in this context, covers the rights to a songwriter's compositions — the underlying music and lyrics, as distinct from the sound recordings themselves. BMG will administer Lunoe's songwriting catalogue globally under the agreement.
Lunoe announced the signing in a statement issued the same day. "Very excited to join the iconic roster of the BMG publishing family," she wrote on her official Instagram account on August 19 (Instagram). She shared a similar message on Threads the same day. Heath Johns, president of Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia for BMG, welcomed Lunoe to the company's songwriting roster, according to Billboard.
Lunoe's career in electronic music has produced a series of notable firsts. In 2016 she became the first woman to perform a solo set on the kineticFIELD mainstage at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, one of the largest electronic music festivals in North America. The following year she performed at Coachella while eight months pregnant (Billboard).
She was also one of the first women to mix compilations for Ministry of Sound Australia, a major dance music brand. All three of her compilations for the label were certified gold in Australia, a sales threshold recognising shipment of 35,000 units.
Her debut album Pearl was released via NLV Records, the label founded by Australian DJ and producer Nina Las Vegas. The album was named one of Billboard's best dance albums of 2024 (Billboard).
For Lunoe, the deal places her songwriting catalogue — both existing works and future compositions — under BMG's global administration infrastructure. The company, headquartered in Berlin, operates publishing and recorded-music divisions across multiple territories. Johns, who oversees the Australasia and Southeast Asia region, has been expanding BMG's songwriter roster in the area; Lunoe joins a list that spans genres from pop to electronic.
