Silent Hill: Townfall Shows Off 20 Minutes of Gameplay Ahead of September 24 Launch

Konami has released nearly 20 minutes of new Silent Hill: Townfall gameplay footage, giving players their deepest look yet at the upcoming horror title — just over a month before its September 24 release date. (VGC)
Developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn, Townfall moves the series to a new setting: St Amelia, a fictional fishing village based on a real community in Fife, Scotland. The game is a first-person psychological horror experience — the first Silent Hill to adopt that perspective — and Konami describes it as a full-length, self-contained story. (Konami)
The new footage, published on Konami's official YouTube channel on August 20, is split into five chapters covering two sections of the game. (Konami YouTube)
Players follow Simon, the protagonist, who arrives in St Amelia after receiving a message from a nurse named Zoe asking him to return. Simon has never met Zoe and does not recognise the town. The footage shows him visiting Zoe's house and exploring the village using a device called the CRTV — Townfall's take on the radio or phone that has guided (and unnerved) players throughout the Silent Hill series — which feeds him clues about where to go next.
Then things go wrong. Simon has his first encounter with one of the game's monsters, pressing himself against a wall and using the CRTV to track its position rather than fighting. Konami has described the game's evasion as "tense" and its combat as "frenetic," with Simon relying on a limited set of weapons and tools to survive. (Konami)
The footage also takes players into the Otherworld — the series' recurring alternate reality, a warped mirror of the normal world — where Simon explores a tenement building and attacks enemies with a pistol. It is the clearest sign yet that Townfall will balance its exploration and puzzle-solving with direct confrontation, not just hiding.
For longtime fans, the footage confirms that Townfall is threading familiar Silent Hill elements — the unreliable guide device, the Otherworld shift, a protagonist drawn somewhere he does not understand — through a first-person lens and a distinctly Scottish setting rather than the series' fictional American town.
Silent Hill: Townfall launches on September 24, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are open now. (PlayStation Blog)
With just over a month to go, this footage is the most substantial preview Konami has offered — and the first to show the game running at length, rather than in edited trailer cuts.
