Amazon Prime Video Renews YA Series 'Sterling Point' for Season 2 After Two-Week Debut
Amazon Prime Video has renewed the young-adult drama Sterling Point for a second season, just over two weeks after the show's August 5 premiere. The series quickly became a top title on the platform following its debut, according to Deadline.
The first season runs eight episodes and holds a 90% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as reported by Variety. The rapid renewal — coming roughly fifteen days after launch — means the writers' room and production team now move forward on a new season rather than waiting on the bubble, the industry term for a show whose future has not yet been decided.
Sterling Point follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, played by Ella Rubin, who is raised in New York City with her twin brother (Keen Ruffalo) and adoptive father (Jay Duplass). She inherits her mysterious grandfather's island in Canada, which sets off a chain of family secrets. The first season ends with Annie and her friend Ramona switching places after unravelling those secrets, and Ramona identifying her true biological father.
The cast includes Amélie Hoeferle as Ramona, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie as Ellis, Daniel Quinn-Toye as Rory, Bo Bragason as Oona, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe, Nikko Angelo Hinayo as Sully, Mabel Strachan as Maple, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers as Kate, and Missi Pyle as Denise Ballatine. Across the season, Annie falls into a love triangle between Ellis and Rory, while Ramona and Oona attempt a romantic relationship of their own.
Megan Park created the series and serves as co-showrunner, executive producer, and director. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage co-showrun and executive produce through their company Fake Empire, and Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin executive produce for LuckyChap. Amazon MGM Studios produces alongside Fake Empire and LuckyChap. Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, oversees the slate.
For the second season, production will move to Muskoka, a region in Ontario, Canada, according to co-showrunners Schwartz and Savage. No episode count or premiere date for Season 2 has been announced.
This is the third young-adult project in a row that Prime Video has renewed, following Off Campus and Every Year After. Off Campus received its Season 2 renewal months ahead of its Season 1 premiere in February 2026. Every Year After was renewed at Prime Video's inaugural Obsessed Fest fan event in June 2026. Both of those series are based on books — by Elle Kennedy and Carley Fortune, respectively — while Sterling Point is an original story.
For fans of the show, the renewal means the island's mysteries and the switched-places cliffhanger between Annie and Ramona will get a resolution rather than an open-ended ending. For the production, it means a crew and cast can return to Muskoka for another cycle of filming — the kind of scheduling decision that keeps two hundred people in work and a story on track to be finished.
