Yung Filly to Face Retrial on Three Rape Charges in Australia After Hung Jury
British entertainer Yung Filly will be retried on three rape charges after a jury in Australia failed to reach a verdict on those counts, prosecutors confirmed on August 21, 2026.
Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, faced an eight-day trial in the District Court of Western Australia in Perth. The case stemmed from an incident in a Perth hotel room in September 2024 involving a 20-year-old woman who cannot be identified under Australian law. The internet personality and comedian had been touring Australia, performing in Sydney and Melbourne before encountering the woman in Perth. He was arrested in Brisbane, the east coast city where his tour was scheduled to end.
The jury returned a split result. Yung Filly was found guilty on two charges of assault occasioning bodily harm — a criminal charge covering physical attacks that cause visible injury. He was found not guilty of choking the woman and not guilty of four of the seven rape charges he originally faced. But the jury could not reach majority verdicts on the three remaining rape counts. Under Western Australian law, a majority verdict requires at least 10 of 12 jurors to agree; without that threshold, the judge declared a hung jury on those charges.
Prosecutor Danielle Clarke told Judge Linda Black that the alleged victim is willing to testify again at a retrial, according to ABC News. Prosecutors formally notified Yung Filly's legal team on a Friday that they intend to try him a second time on the three unresolved charges.
During the trial, photographs showing bruising and bite marks on the alleged victim's face and neck were presented to the court, according to Courthouse News. Prosecutors argued that the woman initially agreed to have sex with Yung Filly but withdrew her consent because she feared for her safety.
Separately, Yung Filly was allegedly caught with drugs while on bail in Western Australia, The Australian reported on August 4.
No date has been set for the retrial. Yung Filly's sentencing for the two assault convictions will take place after the retrial concludes, the court confirmed.
