FromSoftware pulled the plug on the first closed network test for The Duskbloods on 21 August 2026 after widespread login errors left players locked out of the session.

The developer announced the shutdown in a post on its official X account, fromsoftware_pr, writing: "We regret to inform you that today's session is now closed." The post apologised "to those who were waiting for the first The Duskbloods network test due to game server issues" and added: "We will continue to work on improving the servers and will announce future schedules at a later date." A closed network test is a limited-access stress test — developers invite a subset of players to connect to servers before launch, surfacing problems that only appear under real-world load. For The Duskbloods, this first session was slated to run from 3 AM to 7 AM PT (6 AM to 10 AM ET). Players who secured a spot found themselves facing login errors instead of gameplay, prompting FromSoftware to close the session rather than extend it.

The Duskbloods is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, making this test a notable early look at a major third-party title built specifically for the platform. Registration for the test opened on 22 July 2026 and ran through 28 July, with sign-ups available for roughly a week ahead of the August test window. (Gematsu)

The full test was scheduled to span 21–23 August 2026, with FromSoftware's original plan including a second session on Friday and additional sessions over the weekend. Whether those will still go ahead is now unclear — the developer said only that future schedules would be announced "at a later date."

For players who set alarms and cleared their morning for a first taste of FromSoftware's latest, the day ended with an apology and a wait. Network tests exist precisely to catch these problems, and servers buckling under demand is a familiar story across the industry — but for a test this anticipated, on a platform still establishing its library, the timing stings.

FromSoftware has not yet provided a revised schedule or indicated whether the remaining sessions will proceed.
