Meghan Markle in Early Talks to Join Netflix's "The Gentlemen" for Season 3
Meghan Markle is in very early talks to join the third season of Netflix's The Gentlemen, according to Variety, which confirmed the story on 21 August 2026. No contract is in place, and her potential role has not been identified. The series has not yet been officially renewed for a third season.
Deadline Hollywood, which first reported the news, said Markle has had preliminary conversations to join the Guy Ritchie-created series. An earlier report from Australia's News.com.au had flagged that Markle had been offered a role in an upcoming U.K.-based project, though it did not name the show at the time.
The Gentlemen premiered on Netflix on 7 March 2024, adapting Ritchie's 2020 film of the same name for television. Theo James stars as Eddie Halstead, an aristocratic soldier who inherits his late father's estate and discovers it sits on top of an underground cannabis empire. Netflix's own Tudum site confirmed filming on Season 2 had begun in August 2024, and the new season is set to premiere on 3 September 2026. Netflix lists the series among its returning shows for 2026, promising more of what it calls the show's "slick, criminal fun."
For Markle, the talks signal a possible return to scripted television, a format she has been away from since leaving her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits in 2018 after seven seasons. She is also set to make a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends, starring Brie Larson and Lily Collins.
The timing aligns with a major life change. Markle and Prince Harry are moving back to the U.K. with their two children for an "extended period" after six years in California, Deadline reported on 19 August 2026. The couple may still have a first-look deal at Netflix — an arrangement giving the streamer first rights to projects they develop — but have decided to decamp from Hollywood.
What makes this stand out is the confluence: a possible return to acting, a relocation to Britain, and a Guy Ritchie series all landing in the same week. Nothing is confirmed. The talks are preliminary, the season is unannounced, and the role is unspecified. But the pieces are enough to get attention.
For now, Season 2 of The Gentlemen arrives on 3 September, and that much is certain. Everything beyond it — including whether Markle appears — remains in the realm of early conversations.
