Netflix refused to deny that Meghan Markle is joining Season 3 of The Gentlemen, after the platform's UK scripted chief was asked the question point-blank at the Edinburgh TV Festival on 26 August 2026.

Manda Levin, who oversees scripted commissioning for Netflix in the UK, was asked whether Markle will appear in the Guy Ritchie-created series. Her reply, as Deadline reported, was three words: "All bets are off."

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva first revealed that Markle was in talks for a role in the show. Sources cautioned that those conversations were at an early stage — meaning no deal is confirmed, and the project may or may not come together. Netflix did not deny the report, which in trade terms keeps the door open without committing to anything.

The timing is busy for The Gentlemen. Season 2 premieres on 3 September. Earlier the same week as the Edinburgh festival, Netflix officially greenlit Season 3, announcing the renewal on its own Tudum newsroom on 24 August — ahead of the second season even airing (Netflix Tudum). Guy Ritchie is the creator and director of the series, which stars Theo James as Eddie Horniman, a man who unexpectedly inherits his father's country estate and discovers it sits on top of a cannabis empire. Eddie transitions from duke to drug baron, partnering with a criminal dynasty that has its own agenda.

Markle and Prince Harry have a first-look deal at Netflix — an arrangement where the platform gets first refusal on projects the couple's production company develops — with projects in development across film and TV (Deadline). A role in The Gentlemen would be a acting appearance rather than a producing credit, which is what makes the rumour unusual.

What makes this stand out is the gap between what Netflix said and what it did not say. "All bets are off" is not a confirmation. It is not a denial either. For a platform that announces renewals on its own newsroom and dates its trailers weeks in advance, leaving a question dangling in public is a choice — and one that keeps the story alive heading into the Season 2 premiere.

For now, the confirmed facts are these: Season 3 is happening, Season 2 arrives on 3 September, and Markle's involvement is, at best, an early-stage conversation. Everything else is a waiting game.
