Jason Blum, the producer behind Blumhouse and the original Paranormal Activity film franchise, will host a special performance of Paranormal Activity: A New Story Live on Broadway on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the August Wilson Theatre — followed by a post-show speech to the audience (Deadline; Instagram).

The stage adaptation officially opens the night before, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after a week of previews that began August 14 (Deadline). The opening was moved up from an earlier schedule; a May announcement had set the first performance for August 14, with a June update confirming the August 25 opening date (Deadline, May 2026; Deadline, June 2026). Tickets are on sale now for a limited 20-week run (Broadway.com).

The play was written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett, best known for his immersive work with the theatre company Punchdrunk. It stars Travis A. Knight as James and Cher Álvarez as Lou, a couple who move from Chicago to London to escape their past. Shannon Cochran and Eva Kaminsky also feature in the cast (Deadline).

The production arrives on Broadway with credentials from across the Atlantic. It premiered at the Leeds Playhouse in 2024, then transferred to the Ambassadors Theatre in London's West End, where it earned a Laurence Olivier Award nomination in 2026 for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play (Deadline).

Blum's involvement ties the stage version to the property he knows intimately. He founded Blumhouse, the production company that turned Oren Peli's original 2007 found-footage film into a franchise that has grossed more than $900 million at the global box office (Deadline; Hollywood Reporter). He joined the producing team for the Broadway run, bringing the brand from cinema to the stage.

The franchise is not staying in the theatre. Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount Pictures are producing an eighth film instalment, set to reach cinemas early in the summer of 2027 (Deadline).

For the August 26 hosted performance, the audience will get two things for the price of one: the play itself, and a direct address from the producer who built the Paranormal Activity empire. During the late-August performance period, shows at the August Wilson Theatre run Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm and 7pm (Playbill).
