Paranormal Activity Adds Eight Weeks on Broadway

Paranormal Activity is staying on Broadway eight weeks longer.
The stage play will now run at the August Wilson Theatre through February 28, 2027, Deadline reported on Oct. 9. The extension stretches what had been sold as a short stay.
The show had been billed as a strictly limited engagement, meaning a run with a set closing date, through January 3, 2027, Skydance announced last month. Eight more weeks takes it through the dead of winter.
The box office helps explain why. Last week the production played to 98% of capacity, meaning nearly every seat was filled, and grossed $910,556 in ticket sales, Deadline reported.
The play is inspired by the Paramount film franchise. It is written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett. It stars Cher Álvarez and Travis A. Knight. It is a Melting Pot production in association with Paramount Pictures.
Broadway previews, the paid performances before opening night, began August 14. Opening night followed on August 25.
The Broadway run arrived directly from Boston. The show played a limited engagement at the Emerson Colonial Theatre there in July.
Before that, it played sold-out engagements at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Center Theatre Group at the Ahmanson Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company and American Conservatory Theater. A Toronto production at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre began June 9 and ran through July 5.
The road goes back further. The play premiered at Leeds Playhouse before transferring to the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End. The London production is selling tickets through Saturday, November 7.
For fans, this means more time. The show kept its full title and its theater. It just added eight weeks of performances to the calendar.
