BelicoFest Cancels San José Debut a Week Before Showtime
BelicoFest has cancelled its San José edition, scheduled for Aug. 29 at PayPal Park, with just over a week's notice.
Organizers and the venue announced the cancellation in a joint Instagram post on Aug. 21, opening with an apology to ticket-holders. "We are sorry to share that BelicoFest San José will no longer take place on August 29," the post said. The statement described the move as "the right decision to ensure we can deliver the best possible festival" but did not give further details about the circumstances behind it (Billboard).
The scrapped lineup was substantial. Headliners included Tito Double P, Gerardo Ortiz and Santa Fe Klan, with supporting acts Herencia de Patrones, Regulo Caro, Estevie, Anakin Larios, Ilusión Eterno and Grupo Ajedrez.
PayPal Park, the 18,000-seat home of Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes, opened in 2015 and had never hosted a concert. The festival's producer, For The Culture, had pitched the BelicoFest date as the stadium's first live music event.
The San José show was part of a planned 2026 expansion for the regional Mexican music festival. BelicoFest made its Los Angeles debut on July 12 at BMO Stadium, featuring Tito Double P, Gerardo Ortiz, OhGeesy, Clave Especial, Chuyin, Regulo Caro, Snow Tha Product, Estevie, Ilusión Eterno, Grupo Ajedrez, Anakin Larios and Clika, with Santa Fe Klan as special guest. In 2025, the festival drew more than 30,000 fans in Phoenix, where Peso Pluma headlined.
Organizers said they are actively exploring new dates and will share an update as soon as one is available. Fans who bought tickets will receive automatic refunds with no action required.
For ticket-holders, the refund is straightforward. For the artists, crew and vendors who had locked in the date, a cancelled show eight days out is a hole in the calendar that does not refill itself.
The cancellation also leaves PayPal Park still waiting for its first concert. Whether BelicoFest returns to make good on that milestone is an open question — organizers have pointed to future dates but confirmed nothing.
