Jacob Chase to Direct Blumhouse Atomic Monster Horror 'Sleepover' for Universal
Jacob Chase is set to direct Sleepover, a new horror film from Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures, with a theatrical release planned for 8 October 2027. Chase co-wrote the screenplay with Night Swim filmmaker Bryce McGuire, adapting McGuire's original short story. Universal had the October 2027 date already reserved for an untitled Blumhouse Atomic Monster project, and Sleepover now fills that slot (Deadline).
The film is billed as the "quintessential sleepover nightmare," though no plot details have been disclosed beyond that logline. Jason Blum is producing. Chase, McGuire and Bea Sequeira serve as executive producers. Lilly Tyson is overseeing the project for Blumhouse Atomic Monster (Deadline).
Cinescape Entertainment is the production company, with Universal presenting alongside Blumhouse Atomic Monster — the combined horror label formed when Blumhouse and James Wan's Atomic Monster merged operations under a shared deal with Universal (Deadline).
Chase arrives at Sleepover fresh off Insidious: Out of the Further, the sixth instalment in the long-running PG-13 horror franchise. That film opened to $25.3 million domestically — domestic meaning the United States and Canada — and $60.3 million worldwide in its opening weekend, released through Sony Screen Gems and Stage 6. Blumhouse Atomic Monster presented the film along with Sony.
