Jelly Roll stepped in as guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live for four nights beginning Monday, August 25, 2026, and used his opening monologue to urge President Donald Trump to lose weight. (Rolling Stone)

The country artist, who won Best Contemporary Country Album at the Grammy Awards earlier in 2026 for Beautifully Broken, addressed the president directly: "Mr. President, from one fat pig to another." He then cited a Washington Post report that doctors were concerned about Trump's weight, noting the president had gained 14 pounds since his last physical, bringing him to nearly 240 pounds. Jelly Roll told the audience he had lost 300 pounds over the past few years. He described that as having lost "an entire Donald Trump." (Rolling Stone)

After asking the studio audience not to mock the president over his weight, the show cut to clips of Trump himself making fun of people based on their size and appearance. Jelly Roll also joked about Trump hosting an IndyCar race in Washington, D.C., and driving the track in his motorcade for what he called a "lap of honor." (Rolling Stone)

The monologue carried a weight beyond comedy. At the Grammys earlier in 2026, Jelly Roll said he had long been disconnected from politics but planned to speak out "in the most loud and clear way." The Kimmel stage gave him that platform on national television.

It was also a night of firsts of a different kind. Jelly Roll told the audience his appearance marked the first time he had ever worn a suit and tie — not to the Grammys, not to court, not even to his father's funeral. (Rolling Stone)

This is Jelly Roll's second stint filling in for Jimmy Kimmel, having first guest-hosted the show the previous year. His guests for the August 25 episode included podcast host Jay Shetty and Chad Powers actor Glen Powell. During their interview, Jelly Roll revealed he has a small role in Powell's forthcoming film The Comeback King. (Rolling Stone)

Away from the desk, an official Jimmy Kimmel Live Instagram reel posted the same day showed Jelly Roll going fishing with Kimmel himself — a lighter moment in a week otherwise defined by a country star in his first suit, telling a president to get in shape.
