Wyze Indoor Cam Pan: 2K Resolution, Physical Privacy Tilt, and a $39.98 Price Tag

Wyze has launched the Indoor Cam Pan, a new pan-and-tilt indoor security camera priced at $39.98 through its online store. The device records at 2K resolution, rotates a full 360 degrees horizontally, and tilts up to 103 degrees vertically. The Verge
The Indoor Cam Pan sits below the existing Wyze Cam Pan v3, which remains available at $44.98. The Pan v3 offers a wider 180-degree tilt range, an IP65 rating (meaning it is dust-tight and protected against water jets, making it usable outdoors), and 1080p recording. It also uses a starlight sensor — a type of image sensor sensitive enough to produce color images in very low light without switching to infrared (Wyze). Its motor produces 40% less noise during rotation than the preceding Wyze Cam Pan v2 (Wyze Support). Above both sits the $59.98 Wyze Cam Pan v4, which records at 4K.
So the Indoor Cam Pan occupies a specific niche: it is cheaper than the Pan v3 while raising resolution to 2K, but it trades away outdoor durability and some tilt range to get there.
A standout physical feature is the camera's privacy tilt. The lens can tilt downward until it disappears entirely inside the camera body, physically preventing it from seeing anything in the home. This is a hardware-level privacy measure rather than a software toggle, and it addresses a concern that has dogged indoor security cameras broadly: users want assurance that a device is not watching when they do not want it to be.
Wyze describes the motor as its "quietest, smoothest motor ever." Motor noise has been a recurring design target for the company's pan cameras; the Pan v3 already reduced rotation noise by 40% compared to the v2.
On the intelligence side, the Indoor Cam Pan includes AI-powered motion tracking that can filter out routine household movement. It will ignore robot vacuums while they clean, and it can disregard people and pets outside customizable detection zones. These are onboard capabilities, not subscription-gated features. Wyze's Cam Plus and Cam Unlimited subscription plans layer on additional AI functionality, including alerts that describe what the camera has detected.
For low-light recording, the camera uses night vision with infrared LEDs. The frame rate drops from 20fps to 15fps in those conditions. The Pan v3's starlight sensor approach, which maintains color in very low light, is not part of this indoor model's feature set.
Local storage is supported via a microSD slot accommodating cards up to 512GB. The camera also includes a speaker and microphone for two-way audio and can sound a 95-decibel alarm.
The broader context here is worth noting. Wyze recalled its Solar Cam Pan security cameras earlier this year after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission identified fire and burn hazards stemming from incorrect assembly instructions that could lead consumers to puncture the lithium-ion battery (CPSC). The recall involved a solar-powered outdoor product, not the indoor camera line, and the Indoor Cam Pan does not carry a lithium-ion battery. But the recall is recent enough that it colors the launch of any new Wyze camera, even an indoor one, and the physical privacy tilt on the Indoor Cam Pan reads as a direct response to consumer trust concerns around connected cameras.
Wyze also released the Duo Cam Pan in August 2025, a dual-lens pan-and-tilt camera designed to eliminate blind spots by presenting two simultaneous views (BusinessWire). And on August 11, 2026, the company pushed app and firmware updates that included Wyze Cam Pan v2 public firmware version 4.49.17.10 (Wyze Forums), indicating continued support for older hardware alongside new launches.
At $39.98 with 2K recording, a physical privacy tilt, and AI motion filtering, the Indoor Cam Pan is a competitive indoor-only option for users who want higher resolution than the Pan v3 at a lower price and do not need outdoor durability. The trade-offs are clear: less tilt range, no starlight color night vision, and no IP rating. For an indoor camera, those may be acceptable losses.
