This marks the fourth consecutive season that Outer Banks has opened at the top of Netflix's TV chart — meaning every season since the show launched has debuted at No. 1. The series has appeared on Netflix's Top 10 English-language TV list 25 times across its first four seasons and accumulated nearly 200 million views in that span, according to Netflix's own editorial site Tudum. A "view" in Netflix's measurement equals total hours watched divided by the title's runtime.
The final season picks up after the Pogues — the working-class crew of teenagers at the centre of the show — lose one of their own. They chase revenge and redemption as they pursue a stolen artifact, per the season's official trailer. The show mixes treasure-hunting adventure with coming-of-age drama, set along the barrier islands of North Carolina.
The numbers arrive a week after another teen drama, My Life with the Walter Boys, held the No. 1 spot on the same English TV list with 8.7 million views for the week of Aug. 10, Tudum reported. Outer Banks displaced it to take the chart's top position.
For fans, the debut confirms a fitting send-off. A final season landing at No. 1 means the audience that built up over four seasons showed up for the conclusion — and that Netflix's bet on closing the story rather than extending it paid off in viewership terms. Whether the finale satisfies the people who watched is a separate question, and one no ratings number can answer.
