Jesikah Suggs, Writer on Netflix's My Life With The Walter Boys, Dies at 32
Jesikah Suggs, a writer, story editor and co-producer on Netflix's My Life With The Walter Boys, died on August 18 at her home in Studio City, California, after an eight-year battle with breast cancer. She was 32. Her family announced her death.
Suggs had been at work writing for the upcoming fourth season of My Life With The Walter Boys at the time of her death, according to Deadline. The Netflix series, starring Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde and Ashby Gentry, premiered in 2023 and has run for three seasons.
Born on March 2, 1994, in Dallas, Texas, Suggs studied film at Baylor University. Her early career included an internship on the reality series Big Brother in Los Angeles and a stint as an assistant to writer-producer Jason Katims, whose credits include Parenthood and Friday Night Lights. The connection held: Suggs later wrote a 2022 episode of Katims' Amazon Prime series As We See It.
On My Life With The Walter Boys, Suggs wrote three episodes across the first three seasons and served as a story editor — a mid-level writing role that involves shaping scripts and maintaining story continuity — on 10 episodes of Season 1. She went on to co-produce 11 episodes across Seasons 2 and 3.
Her recent work extended beyond Netflix. Suggs co-produced eight episodes of the 2026 Amazon Prime series It's Not Like That, starring Scott Foley and Erinn Hayes, and wrote one episode of that series. She also produced the 2019 special The Kennedy Center Presents: Liz Suggs at Millennium Stage.
Suggs was the sister and frequent writing partner of Liz Suggs, a writer, producer and lyricist whose credits include the Netflix animated series Disenchantment and NBC's Parenthood.
Suggs was first diagnosed with breast cancer at 24. Two years after that initial diagnosis, the cancer metastasized — meaning it spread beyond its original site to other parts of the body. She continued working through treatment for the remaining years of her career.
She is survived by her husband of 20 months, actor Dustin Ingram, whose screen credits include Watchmen; her mother, Roxanne Suggs; her sisters Elizabeth Suggs and Dallas district attorney Kathryn Suggs; her brother Jimmy Suggs and his wife Elizabeth; two nieces, a nephew and other extended family. She was predeceased by her father, Jim Suggs.
A memorial service was held in Los Angeles on August 22. A second service is set for August 29 in Grapevine, Texas.
