Global Constellation Boards TIFF Premiere 'Magazine', Alexandra Pechman's Debut on New York's Literary World

Global Constellation has taken international sales rights to Magazine, the feature debut of writer-director-producer Alexandra Pechman, ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September (Deadline). UTA and After Hours are handling North American rights, meaning the film now has both sides of the sales map covered — international and domestic, the United States and Canada — as it heads into the festival marketplace.
Set in 2011, Magazine follows Nora, a young intern transplanted from Arizona who lands at Platen, a prestigious New York literary journal, and finds herself caught in the publication's power dynamics (Deadline; TIFF). Lily McInerny plays Nora, with Joshuah Melnick as associate editor Thomas and Jake Lacy as Platen publisher Mickey. The ensemble also includes Lukita Maxwell, Daniel Zolghadri, Ruby Cruz, Iris Apatow, Delaney Rowe, Sasha Bhasin, AnnaSophia Robb, and Lacy (Deadline).
McInerny recently led the feature adaptation Bonjour Tristesse, opposite Claes Bang and Chloë Sevigny — a film that was also sold internationally by Global Constellation, making Magazine a second collaboration between the sales company and the actor (Deadline).
Pechman produces alongside Anne Alexander and Tess Cohen. She has also been attached to direct The Murderous Miss Highsmith, a genre biopic with Shailene Woodley, Cara Delevingne, and Noémie Merlant (Deadline).
Magazine runs 105 minutes, is in English, and was shot in New York City (TIFF; Alexandra Pechman's website). It screens as part of the TIFF '26 Discovery programme, a lineup dedicated to first and second features — the section where many international buyers first encounter emerging directors. The 51st Toronto International Film Festival runs September 10–20, 2026 (TIFF). A TIFF listing shows Magazine screening on Friday, September 11 at 12:15 PM (TIFF).
The Discovery programme also includes Stuffed, a taxidermy musical starring Jodie Comer and Harry Melling, which Screen Daily reported among the Toronto 2026 lineup in July (Screen Daily).
For a debut film-maker, landing a sales agent before a festival premiere is the piece that turns a screening into a deal. Global Constellation will pitch Magazine to distributors across territories; UTA and After Hours will field offers from North American buyers. The first test comes on September 11, when the lights go down in Toronto and the market gets its first look.
