French animated comedy Jim Queen has closed a new round of international sales after its first screenings in Asia at the Busan International Film Festival, its sales agent told the trade press on Oct. 13. The deals were reported by Variety.

Global Constellation, the sales arm of pan-European studio Vuelta, handles the film country by country. That is the job of a sales agent: to licence distribution rights to local companies territory by territory. It was formed in 2025 by combining London's Film Constellation with Munich-based Global Screen.

The new Eastern European business went to Prorom for the Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. HBO took first-window pay-TV and streaming rights in Eastern Europe, meaning the first pay run after cinemas. Both agreements closed after Busan, according to Variety.

Nordic and southern European buyers followed. Sweden went to Folkets Bio and Norway to AS Fidalgo, while Films4You took Portugal. In Latin America, CDI/LAT-E acquired rights for Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay.

A deal in South Korea is in talks. It has not been signed. Taiwan is next on the calendar, with Creative Century Distribution to open the film in cinemas there on Oct. 23.

Earlier sales had already placed the film widely. Italy went to I Wonder Pictures, Benelux to O'Brother and Germany to Capelight Pictures, with Praesens taking Switzerland and Polyfilm taking Austria. Spain went to Elastica/Filmin, Israel to Lev Cinema, Australia and New Zealand to Madman, Canada to Photon Films, Brazil to Pandora Filmes/Belas Artes Grupo and Mexico to Pimienta Films, alongside the Taiwan deal with Creative Century.

The United States is still open. Global Constellation is weighing several U.S. offers, with a U.S. release set for 2027, Variety reported. Jordan Firstman and Matteo Lane were unveiled as the English-language voices of Jim and Lucien.

The film world premiered at Cannes. The Jokers Films opened it in France on June 17, where it entered the chart at No. 3 behind Toy Story 5 and Backrooms. It has since passed 385,000 admissions in France and taken more than $3 million there, as reported on Oct. 13.

Jim Queen is a 2D comedy aimed at adults, an irreverent tour of Gay Paris. David Alric and Arthur Delabays produced it for Paris-based adult animation outfit Bobbypills. Busan, organised from Oct. 6 to Oct. 15, listed it in its World Cinema programme.

For audiences outside France, this means a slow rollout. Festival sales come first. Local release dates follow.
