The ten-track tape landed on 26 August 2026 across all streaming services, with CD and vinyl pressings available the same day, according to Billboard.
The artist announced the release himself on X, writing that the mixtape would arrive on its namesake date in celebration of its tenth anniversary. Post Malone, born Austin Richard Post, originally issued 'August 26th' on 12 May 2016 through Republic Records. It was his first full-length project and his major-label debut, following the self-released 2014 mixtape 'Y.A.T.R.' and the breakout 2015 single 'White Iverson'.
The title referred to a date that fans circled for a different record. 'August 26th' was the originally planned release day for Post Malone's debut solo album 'Stoney', which was pushed back several times before landing in December 2016. The mixtape served as a placeholder of sorts — a ten-song stopgap that kept listeners occupied while the album's release schedule shifted.
The tracklist includes 'Never Understand', 'Money Made Me Do It', 'Git Wit U', and 'F--k', with guest appearances from 2 Chainz, Lil Yachty, Jaden Smith, and Jeremih. According to TMZ, the proposal took place on a Tuesday in Utah, with friends flying out to celebrate. The couple reportedly broke up in June 2025 and were photographed together again in New York in February 2026, before the engagement announcement.
