Phoebe Bridgers' 'Lost Weekend' Debuts at No. 1 on Rock Charts, No. 2 on Billboard 200

Phoebe Bridgers' album Lost Weekend has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, marking her first time atop that survey, on the chart dated 29 August 2026. The 16-track record, released 14 August via Dead Oceans, also entered the all-genre Billboard 200 at No. 2 — her first solo top 40 entry on that chart. Billboard
In its first week, ending 20 August, Lost Weekend earned 124,000 equivalent album units in the United States, according to Luminate. Equivalent album units is the measure that converts streaming plays and digital sales into album-sale figures. Of that total, 83,000 were straight album sales, putting the record at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart. Vinyl did the heavy lifting: 65,000 of those copies were vinyl, enough for a No. 1 debut on the Vinyl Albums chart.
The numbers represent a clear step up for Bridgers. Her previous solo album, Punisher, peaked at No. 6 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums in 2020. Boygenius, the trio she shares with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, reached No. 2 on the same chart with their debut full-length The Record in 2023.
For Dead Oceans, the Indiana-based independent label, Lost Weekend delivered its highest-ever Billboard 200 placement. It also gave the label its second No. 1 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums, following Mitski's Laurel Hell in 2022.
The record made its presence felt on the singles charts too. Multiple Lost Weekend tracks entered the Billboard Hot 100 — the first time Bridgers has appeared on that chart without billed collaborators and the first entries from any of her solo albums. Her earlier Hot 100 visits were all features: a No. 57 duet cover of the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" with Maggie Rogers in 2020, Taylor Swift's "Nothing New (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault)" at No. 43 in 2021, and SZA's "Ghost in the Machine" at No. 40 in 2022, her first top 40 hit.
Four Lost Weekend songs made the Hot 100 this week. "The Governor's Waltz" led the pack at No. 80 with 3.8 million chart-eligible streams. "Lost Boys" followed at No. 85, with 3.5 million streams and 2.2 million radio audience impressions. "Bobby" entered at No. 93 with 3.4 million streams, and "Kill Me" rounded out the group at No. 100 with 3.3 million. On the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, 13 Lost Weekend tracks placed in the top 25, led by "The Governor's Waltz" at No. 19.
"Lost Boys" also hit No. 1 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart — Bridgers' first time topping a Billboard airplay survey as a solo act. Her only previous airplay No. 1 came with Boygenius, whose "Not Strong Enough" reigned for seven weeks on the same chart in 2023.
The success crossed the Atlantic as well. Lost Weekend debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart on the survey published 21 August, with 34,000 sales. It was Bridgers' first solo UK No. 1 and the first UK chart-topping album for the Secretly Group, Dead Oceans' parent company. Billboard Music Week
Bridgers built anticipation for the album in unusual fashion. She announced on 6 August that Lost Weekend would get preview screenings at planetariums ahead of release, and the first single arrived on 25 June. The album itself, a 16-track record described as growing out of major life changes involving love, grief and adulthood, follows a career that has already earned Grammy nominations for best new artist, best rock song for "Kyoto" and best alternative album for Punisher. What stands out across these numbers is the vinyl figure. Selling 65,000 vinyl copies in a single week places Bridgers firmly in the upper tier of the format's current commercial footprint — a tier increasingly dominated by artists with devoted, collector-minded fanbases. For an independent label, that kind of physical demand underwrites everything else the record does on streaming.
