Phoebe Bridgers Scores First Solo UK No. 1 Album with 'Lost Weekend'
Phoebe Bridgers has landed her first solo UK No. 1 album. Lost Weekend, her third studio release, entered the Official Albums Chart at the top spot on the chart published Friday, 21 August 2026, per the Official Charts Company.
The album also topped the Official Vinyl Albums Chart in the same week, the OCC confirmed — a signal that physical format sales, particularly on vinyl, played a notable role in its opening-frame total. The Official Albums Chart compiles sales of CDs, downloads, vinyl, audio streams and video streams into a single weekly ranking.
Lost Weekend is Bridgers' first album in six years, following 2020's Punisher, which peaked at No. 6 on the UK albums chart (Official Charts Company). Punisher was the record that turned Bridgers from a cult name into a fixture of end-of-year lists and sold-out theatre tours; Lost Weekend had the weight of that long wait behind it.
She is no stranger to the top of the chart, though the previous visit came in different company. In 2023, Bridgers topped the UK albums chart as part of boygenius, the trio she formed with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, whose debut album The Record also peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in the US (Billboard). The new No. 1 is her first as a solo artist.
For Dead Oceans, the independent label that has released all of Bridgers' solo work, Lost Weekend is a milestone of its own: the label's first UK No. 1 album, per the OCC. Independent labels reaching the summit of the UK chart is not unheard of, but it remains the exception rather than the rule in a market dominated by the three major label groups — Universal, Sony and Warner.
The album's impact extends beyond the albums chart. On the UK Official Trending Songs chart dated 18 August 2026, Bridgers placed two entries: the title track Lost Weekend at No. 8 and The Governor's Waltz at No. 14 (Official Charts Company). The album also includes a track titled Lost Boys, flagged in the OCC's New Music Friday preview ahead of release week.
For fans, the six-year gap between Punisher and Lost Weekend makes the No. 1 landing carry more weight than a typical chart-topping debut. Bridgers spent the interim touring Punisher at scale, recording and releasing The Record with boygenius, and building the kind of audience that shows up in first-week numbers — whether on CD, streaming or the vinyl copies that clearly moved fast.
