Manoj Bajpayee and Boman Irani Share the Screen for the First Time in 'Last Man in Tower,' Arriving September 11

Manoj Bajpayee's next film, Last Man in Tower, will open in Indian cinemas on 11 September, with the first teaser now unveiled, according to Variety Variety.

The film adapts Aravind Adiga's novel of the same name. Adiga also wrote The White Tiger, which won the Booker Prize. Bajpayee plays Masterji, a retired schoolteacher whose refusal to fall in line with his community pits him directly against it. Ben Rekhi directs — his sixth feature — with a screenplay by Sooni Taraporevala and Hindi-language dialogue by Juhi Chaturvedi Variety.

For audiences, the headline draw may be the cast pairing. Bajpayee and Boman Irani have never shared the screen before. Divya Dutta completes the principal trio, with Sukant Goel also in the cast.

Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media produces. The Hyderabad-based company, founded by Daggubati in 2005, has built its catalogue in South Indian cinema; Last Man in Tower is its first Hindi feature production. Additional producers are Guneet Dogra and Pratiksha Rao. Music is by Govind Vasantha, with cinematography by Rangarajan Ramabadran Variety.

The project was first announced in November 2025, when Variety reported that Daggubati's Spirit Media had set a Hindi adaptation of Adiga's novel with Bajpayee starring and Rekhi directing; the film was untitled at that stage Variety. What gives the film its wider industry angle is the production company behind it. Spirit Media stepping into Hindi-language production is an expansion beyond its South Indian base, and the choice of an Adiga literary adaptation — a Mumbai-set story of one man against a collective — signals the kind of prestige material that tends to travel to festivals before reaching theatres.
