Dave and Tems Take 'Raindance' to No. 1 on U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop Radio, As Tems Holds the Top Two Slots

Dave and Tems' collaboration "Raindance" climbed to No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for the list dated Aug. 29, 2026, rising from No. 4 the previous week. The chart measures the most-played songs on panel-contributing mainstream R&B/hip-hop radio stations across the United States, with data tracked by Luminate (Billboard).

"Raindance" became the most-played song on those stations during the tracking week of Aug. 14–20, according to Luminate. In doing so, it displaced Yung Miami's "Spend Dat," which had held the summit for seven consecutive weeks.

For Dave — the British rapper whose full name is David Omoregie — the track delivers his first No. 1 on the chart, and it arrived via his first-ever entry on the ranking. In the U.K., "Raindance" gave him a fourth No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles chart and a 15th top 10 overall.

For Tems, the Nigerian singer born Temilade Openiyi, "Raindance" is her fifth No. 1 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. Her previous chart-toppers were "Essence" (a Wizkid single featuring Justin Bieber and Tems, which led for 10 weeks from September 2021), "Wait for U" (Future featuring Drake and Tems, 16 weeks from July 2022), "Free Mind" (two weeks from December 2022), and "What You Need" (one week from July 2026).

The new No. 1 also means Tems held both of the chart's top two positions simultaneously. Her solo single "What You Need" sat at No. 2 behind "Raindance." It is the fifth time she has occupied both the No. 1 and No. 2 slots on the chart at once — the first such stretch lasted four weeks in September–October 2022, when she appeared on Future's "Wait for U" at No. 1 while "Free Mind" held at No. 2.

The rest of the chart's top five for the week of Aug. 29 comprised Yung Miami's "Spend Dat" at No. 3, Drake's "Shabang" at No. 4, and Kehlani's "Folded" at No. 5 (Billboard).

On the audience-based R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart — which ranks songs by total radio audience reach rather than raw play counts — "Raindance" improved 5–4, surging to 12.8 million in audience impressions, a 26% increase from the prior tracking period. "What You Need" led that particular chart at No. 1, with "Folded" at No. 2 (Billboard).

Beyond R&B/hip-hop formats, the radio momentum carried "Raindance" 29–23 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart, where it reached 21.7 million in audience, up 16%. Airplay gains also pushed it 12–11 on the multi-metric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, a new peak in its 24th week on that list.

What makes this stand out is the sheer breadth of it. A first-time chart entrant for one artist and a fifth No. 1 for another, both on the same song, while that same artist holds the runner-up slot with a different single. The numbers are radio spins and audience impressions — and behind them, two artists whose paths to this chart ran through South London and Lagos.
