Sony has officially announced the Bravia 6 OLED TV, placing it below the Bravia 8, Bravia 8 II, Bravia 9 II, and Bravia 7 II in its 2026 television lineup. The set, also designated A60, first appeared on a Sony wall-mounting compatibility chart in June before receiving full specification and pricing details on August 27 (The Verge).

The Bravia 6 OLED ships in five screen sizes spanning 48 to 83 inches. U.S. pricing runs $1,300 for the 48-inch, $1,500 for the 55-inch, $2,000 for the 65-inch, $3,000 for the 77-inch, and $4,000 for the 83-inch. Those figures position it to compete directly with LG's C6 OLED and Samsung's S90H QD-OLED, both of which sit in the mid-tier OLED segment where price matters as much as picture quality.

On the hardware side, the Bravia 6 uses a 120Hz panel with four HDMI 2.1 inputs. Sony's product page confirms support for 4K at 120 frames per second, Variable Refresh Rate (which adjusts the screen's refresh rate on the fly to match game content and reduce tearing), and Auto Low Latency Mode (which switches the TV into a faster-responding mode when it detects a game console). The set also supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X playback (Sony). Sony markets the panel as using self-emissive OLED pixels, meaning each pixel produces its own light and can turn off completely for true black levels, bright highlights, and rich color (Sony). The TV runs Google TV with Gemini integration, bringing Google's AI assistant into Sony's smart TV platform for voice-driven search and control.

Sony would not confirm whether the four HDMI 2.1 ports indicate a MediaTek Pentonic 800 chip inside. That processor is a requirement for Dolby Vision 2 support, and its presence or absence would affect the Bravia 6's long-term positioning for high-dynamic-range playback. The Pentonic 800 carries specific capabilities around global dimming control, AI super-resolution, and multi-format HDR processing that set it apart from lower-tier MediaTek TV chips. Without confirmation either way, buyers are left to infer from the port count and feature set.

The Bravia 6 ships with a redesigned remote. Streaming service buttons have moved from the bottom to the top, with a larger centralized directional pad ringed by home, settings, and back buttons. Volume and channel toggles sit in the lower third. A built-in microphone enables Gemini voice control directly from the remote, complementing whatever far-field mic capabilities the set itself may offer.

Looking at the competitive landscape, the Bravia 6 enters a segment where LG's C-series has set the default buying expectation for several generations and Samsung's QD-OLED panels have carved out a color-brightness advantage. Sony's play here is straightforward: undercut on price while preserving the panel and processing credentials that matter to enthusiasts. The pricing structure tracks closely with what LG typically offers at each size, which suggests Sony is content to compete on brand reputation and processing quality rather than aggressive discounting.

The inclusion of DTS:X support is notable in a market where DTS audio formats have been quietly dropped from competing models, particularly LG's OLEDs. For buyers with legacy disc collections or DTS-encoded media libraries, that support has practical value beyond spec-sheet checkbox-filling.

For the gaming audience, four HDMI 2.1 ports with VRR and ALLM cover the bases for current-generation console and PC gaming at 4K/120Hz. The 48-inch model at $1,300 is the entry point and competes directly with LG's equivalent C6 pricing for buyers who want OLED's per-pixel dimming in a smaller footprint.

In my view, the Bravia 6's significance is less about any single specification and more about what its pricing reveals about OLED manufacturing economics. A 65-inch OLED at $2,000, with Sony's processing stack and full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth across four ports, reflects a panel supply chain that has matured to the point where OLED is no longer a premium-only technology. That doesn't erase the real gaps between this tier and Sony's Bravia 8 II above it, but it narrows the practical distance for buyers who prioritize panel technology over incremental processing gains.
