Elizabeth Hurley Joins Peacock's The 'Burbs for Season 2

Elizabeth Hurley has been cast as a series regular in the second season of Peacock's mystery comedy The 'Burbs, playing Beverly Fisher, the mother of Jack Whitehall's character Rob Fisher. Deadline reported the casting as an exclusive on 27 August 2026 (Deadline).

The 'Burbs is inspired by the 1989 horror-comedy film of the same name and is set in present-day suburbia. The series follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband's childhood home, only to have their world upended when a new neighbour moves in across the street. Details about what season 2 will focus on remain under wraps.

The returning series regular cast features Whitehall alongside Keke Palmer, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch and Kapil Talwalkar. The show is created by showrunner and executive producer Celeste Hughey. Its executive producer roster includes Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins and Aimee Carlson for Fuzzy Door, Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody for Imagine Entertainment, and writer Hilary Winston. Dana Olsen co-executive produces the eight-episode project, which comes from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Hurley has been working in film and television for more than three decades. She played the Queen of England for four seasons on E's The Royals, and her feature credits include the Mike Myers comedy Austin Powers and the Harold Ramis-directed Bedazzled. On the streaming side, she appeared in the CW's Gossip Girl and the Hulu/Marvel series Runaways.

Her recent work spans several platforms. She starred in Tubi's Breaking Bear, which reunited her with her Bedazzled co-star Brendan Fraser, as well as Netflix's Father Christmas is Back and Lionsgate's Christmas in Paradise. She also produced and starred in Strictly Confidential for Lionsgate Entertainment, adding to earlier producing credits on Extreme Measures for Sony and Mickey Blue Eyes for Warner Bros. Hurley is represented by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.

For a show built on the tensions of suburban life, adding a matriarch to the Fisher household gives season 2 a fresh dynamic to work with. Hurley's comedy credentials stretch from Austin Powers to The Royals, and placing her opposite Whitehall's Rob Fisher puts two performers with very different comic rhythms in the same family.

Peacock has not yet announced a premiere date for season 2.
