Suzanne Farwell to Direct Rom-Com Otherwise Engaged With Jack Whitehall and Zoë Kravitz

Suzanne Farwell will direct Otherwise Engaged, a romantic comedy starring Jack Whitehall and Zoë Kravitz, The Hollywood Reporter reported on 5 November 2026.
Whitehall plays Charlie and Kravitz plays Gabby. Colin Firth plays Charlie's estranged father, a disgraced business tycoon just out of prison. Halle Berry plays Gabby's mother. Farwell wrote the script with Gabriel Mizrahi.
Filming is set to begin in New York in March 2027. Farwell is producing with Susan Cartsonis for Resonate Entertainment, alongside Laura Rister for Esme Grace Pictures. Clément Bauer will executive produce for Resonate. Farwell's producing credits include The Holiday and It's Complicated, and she has long worked with director Nancy Meyers, according to Deadline.
The film was pitched to buyers early. Mister Smith Entertainment launched it at the market held alongside the Toronto International Film Festival in September. A sales company like Mister Smith is the firm that sells a film to cinemas and broadcasters in different countries, and each country or region it sells to is a "territory".
Since then, the company has made a long run of deals. Sky has the United Kingdom. VVS has Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Leonine has Germany, Eagle Pictures has Italy, and DeAPlaneta and TriPictures share Spain. Nordisk Film has Scandinavia and Iceland, while Front Row has the Middle East.
Eastern and central Europe is covered by several buyers. Pasatiempo Pictures has the Baltic states and Monolith has Poland. ProRom has the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. Provzglyad and Vesta Film have the Commonwealth of Independent States, the group of former Soviet republics that includes Russia.
Elsewhere, NOS Lusomundo has Portugal and The Film Group has Greece. Independent Films has the Benelux countries, and DCM Film AG has Switzerland. Anuvu Distribution has worldwide rights for airline and cruise ship screenings, which are shown to passengers in flight or at sea.
Mister Smith will take the remaining international territories to the American Film Market in Los Angeles, a trade event where buyers and sellers meet to strike deals. CAA Media Finance handles the film's U.S. rights, which cover the United States and Canada.
For a film that has not yet started shooting, the deal list is already long. Each sale gives a buyer the right to release the film in its area, usually in cinemas, on television or on streaming services, depending on the terms. Filming in New York begins in March 2027, and the question of when audiences will see the finished film has not been announced.
