Iron Man Game Footage Leaks From EA Motive, days After a Different Cancelled Iron Man Project Surfaced
Roughly two and a half minutes of gameplay footage appearing to be from EA Motive's in-development Iron Man game has leaked online, shared first through the ResetEra forum and reported by Eurogamer on 28 August 2026.
The footage is labelled as coming from an "Aug26 test," suggesting it was captured during an internal playtest session. It shows Iron Man moving through various areas of the game, though no release date is visible anywhere in the clip — only a placeholder reading "Release Window." EA Motive, the studio behind the Dead Space remake, has been developing the title as part of a multi-game partnership between EA and Marvel announced roughly four years ago.
The leak arrives amid a burst of online confusion about the project's status. Earlier in the same week, footage surfaced from an entirely different, long-cancelled Iron Man game — one that Avalanche Studios, the developer best known for the Just Cause series, had been working on around 2012. IGN reported on 24 August that the Avalanche footage was extremely unfinished. TweakTown followed on 27 August with details from roughly an hour of leaked material, describing flight, fast melee combat, and mechanics reminiscent of Just Cause's open-world chaos.
The two leaks led some observers to assume EA Motive's Iron Man game had been cancelled. IGN clarified on 26 August that the EA Motive title is not cancelled, and that the confusion stemmed from the Avalanche footage belonging to a separate, scrapped project from over a decade ago.
For context, this is at least the third Iron Man video game project to surface publicly. Beyond the EA Motive and Avalanche titles, Iron Man also appeared as a playable character in Square Enix's 2020 game Marvel's Avengers, a live-service title — sold and updated in seasons after launch — that was shut down in 2023.
EA's broader Marvel ambitions have narrowed in recent months. Eurogamer reported that a Black Panther game EA had been developing has reportedly been cancelled, leaving the Iron Man project as the publisher's most visible Marvel title still in active development.
None of the leaked EA Motive footage is final, and test builds routinely differ substantially from shipped games. The placeholder release window means EA has not yet committed to a launch date for the title.
For fans of Marvel games, the leak offers an early, unpolished look at a project that has been mostly under wraps since its announcement. It also serves as a reminder of how fragile game development can be: Avalanche's open-world Iron Man never shipped, Square Enix's Avengers did not last, and EA's Black Panther will not arrive at all. Whether EA Motive's take on Tony Stark breaks that pattern remains an open question — one the publisher will answer when it is ready to name a date.
