GTA 6 Fans Spot Dexter Morgan's Miami Apartment in Latest Trailer

Fans combing through the latest Grand Theft Auto VI trailer believe they have spotted a familiar building: the Miami apartment complex that served as the exterior for Dexter Morgan's home in the TV series Dexter. The comparison was flagged on X by user CS11__ and picked up by GameSpot, which noted the strong visual match between a condo building in the trailer and the Bay Harbor Club condos in Miami used for the show's exterior shots.
The connection is not as random as it sounds. Dexter is set in Miami, and GTA 6 takes place in Vice City — Rockstar Games' fictional stand-in for Miami. The developer has long modelled its game worlds on real-world locations, and Vice City's geography and architecture draw directly from South Florida. A building resembling the Bay Harbor Club condos fitting into that landscape is plausible, though Rockstar has not commented on the resemblance.
Some fans have taken the theory further, speculating that GTA 6 might feature a character resembling Dexter Morgan walking around Vice City, or that the game could satirise the character or the show. These remain fan theories with no confirmation from Rockstar.
The timing adds a layer of coincidence. By the time GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the second season of Dexter: Resurrection — the ongoing sequel series — will be airing, as GameSpot noted. Whether that alignment means anything at all is anyone's guess.
Rockstar has spoken broadly about its approach to satire in the new game. Art director Rob Nelson told IGN that the studio is being "careful" about what it chooses to satirise, aiming to avoid GTA 6 feeling dated. The game will not take aim at US President Donald Trump or the COVID-19 pandemic, decisions that keep the satire focused on targets less tied to a specific political moment.
The Dexter apartment sighting is the latest in a steady drip of details emerging about GTA 6, which Rockstar has positioned as its most ambitious open-world game to date. The map is reportedly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's already vast world. A full playthrough can last roughly 80 hours. The series' signature wanted-level system — the escalating police response players face for committing crimes — returns with its maximum six-star rating.
For fans, every trailer frame has become a scavenger hunt. The Dexter discovery fits a pattern that dates back to the first GTA 6 footage: players freezing, zooming and comparing against real-world locations, pop-culture references and their own memories of earlier games. Rockstar worlds are dense with detail by design, and part of the fun, well before release, is deciding what counts as an intentional nod and what is simply a building that looks like another building.
