Hull City Condemn Racist Abuse Aimed at New Signing Robinio Vaz

Hull City have condemned "abhorrent racist abuse" directed at new signing Robinio Vaz after the club announced his arrival on social media — and then deleted the post.

The 19-year-old French striker joined Hull on a season-long loan from Roma on Tuesday, with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign. Vaz scored one Serie A goal last season — Italy's top flight — and arrives as one of the younger faces in Tim Walter's squad.

Within the announcement, racist comments appeared under the club's social media post. Hull pulled the post down and issued a firm statement.

"Hull City condemns the abhorrent racist abuse directed towards our new signing Robinio Vaz on social media," the club said. "No individual should ever…" — the truncated quote appeared across the club's official channels on Facebook and X, formerly Twitter (Hull Daily Mail).

The club stated it has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discrimination and is working with Humberside Police and other authorities to identify the accounts responsible. Hull also confirmed it has been in contact with the Premier League, anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out, and the relevant social media companies (BBC Sport).

For a club in the Championship — English football's second tier — to involve police, the league, and Kick It Out in the hours after a signing suggests they are treating this as a criminal matter, not a moderation issue. The speed of the response, and the decision to delete the original post entirely, left no ambiguity about where the club stands.

Vaz is a teenager starting a loan spell in a new country. The football itself — whether he adapts, whether he scores — is the part that should be under discussion. Instead, his first day at the club became something darker, and Hull's reaction has been swift and unflinching.
