Swansea City head coach Vitor Matos says Eom Ji-sung has the strength to move on after alleged racial abuse overshadowed the club's 1-0 win at Millwall.

The Metropolitan Police is investigating the allegation after a report by Swansea staff at The Den. The club reported the alleged abuse aimed at Eom in the second half. Play was stopped for around seven minutes before the game resumed, BBC Sport reported.

Eom, 24, is a winger, a wide attacking player, and a South Korea international. He was an unused substitute for the match in the Championship, England's second tier.

Matos said Millwall officials followed the correct protocol once Swansea had alerted the fourth official, the extra official who sits between the two dugouts. He praised the response inside the stadium. He also backed his player to recover from what was a difficult night.

On the pitch, substitute Ronald scored a last-minute winner to settle a tight game, ESPN reported. The victory kept Swansea top of the Championship, The Guardian reported.

Matos said Eom will be in contention for Swansea's home match against West Ham United on Saturday at 15:00 BST. The coach did not suggest the player would need to step away.

In a separate matter, the Football Association of Ireland is investigating whether Swansea forward Adam Idah was racially abused by Israel supporters during a Republic of Ireland Nations League fixture played in Serbia last month. The Nations League is UEFA's international competition played alongside qualifying.

The two cases have added to a wider conversation around abuse in the game. Anti-racism group Kick It Out has called on football managers to "set the tone" amid criticism over comments about stoppages for racial abuse, BBC Sport reported.

For fans, this means two investigations running at once. One result still stands. Swansea left London with three points and first place, but the focus has shifted to what happens next off the pitch.
