Until Dawn 2 launches January 28, 2027, with BAFTA-winning co-developer AdHoc Studio

PlayStation has nailed down a release date for Until Dawn 2: January 28, 2027, on PS5. The news came during a State of Play livestream on September 3, 2026, alongside a fresh look at the horror sequel.
Firesprite, the Liverpool-based studio under Sony's PlayStation Studios umbrella, is developing the game in partnership with AdHoc Studio — an American team formed by veterans of Telltale Games, the narrative-focused developer behind The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. AdHoc's debut title, Dispatch, won three BAFTA Games awards. Firesprite creative director Stu Tilley confirmed the partnership in a PlayStation Blog post dated September 3, 2026.
Until Dawn 2 follows a group of ghost-hunting YouTubers who call themselves "Dead True" as they investigate Blackwood Sanitorium — a location tied to the original 2015 game. The cast includes Dacre Montgomery as Owen, Spence Moore II as Nate, and Camila Senna as Mina. In Japan, the game carries a subtitle meaning roughly "The Tragedy of the Cursed Island" on the regional PlayStation Blog.
The original Until Dawn was developed by Supermassive Games, a British studio that built its reputation on the first game's branching, choice-driven horror. Firesprite took over the franchise for this standalone sequel, with Tilley announcing the project on the PlayStation Blog back on June 2, 2026, confirming a PS5 release in 2027.
The September 3 update narrows that window to a specific date and introduces the co-development arrangement with AdHoc. Regional PlayStation Blog posts in Latin American Spanish, French, and Japanese all carried the same January 28, 2027 release date, attributed to Tilley.
For players, the AdHoc pairing signals where the series is leaning. AdHoc's pedigree is in narrative adventure games — titles built around dialogue choices and character-driven storytelling — while Firesprite, which developed The Persistence and contributed to Horizon Call of the Mountain, brings PlayStation-native production muscle. Between them, the two studios are stacking a horror sequel with serious storytelling credentials.
Until Dawn 2 is set for PS5. No other platforms have been announced.
