PlayStation's September 2026 State of Play: Wolverine, Ghost of Yotei DLC, Monster Hunter, and a Heap of New Games
Sony's September 2026 State of Play landed on Thursday, September 3, packing new trailers, release windows, and a handful of surprise announcements across first- and third-party PS5 titles. A separate State of Play Japan broadcast, hosted by voice actor Yuki Kaji, aired immediately after the main English-language show on YouTube and Twitch (PlayStation Blog).
Insomniac Games offered what it called "one last look" at Wolverine with a new trailer ahead of the game's release. Capcom gave Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance its first proper showing, complete with new monsters and story details. And Jin — the lead from Ghost of Tsushima — is officially returning in Ghost of Yotei's upcoming DLC.
4A Games surfaced PS5 Pro gameplay footage of Metro 2039, the next entry in the post-apocalyptic shooter series. Until Dawn 2 also received a new look, as did Bandai Namco's Gundam Rogue Orbit and a Crimson Desert expansion called Charting the Unknown (VGC).
On the new-announcement front, Annapurna unveiled Uncanyon, a game about exploring "fantastical lands and mysterious, puzzle-filled ruins." Konami had a particularly busy showing: a second trailer for its RPG Rev. NOiR and the reveal of Rhapsody in Scarlet, a new game set in 1920s New York. Double Fine's Keeper is headed to PS5. TripWire announced Maneater 2, a sequel to its self-described "ShaRkPG." And Hunter's Moon, described as a "first-person historical folk horror" game, was revealed.
For players who follow subscription catalogue updates, the PS Plus lineup — Sony's game-subscription service that bundles a rotating library of titles — is adding Mycopunk, Mega Man X Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2, and Ratchet & Clank. Saros, a PS5 exclusive, is getting an Overlord Rush mode. Gran Turismo 7 also received news on forthcoming updates.
Two demos and releases are available now: Final Fantasy Resonance, a separate Square Enix title distinct from the Final Fantasy Revelation trailer shown in the broadcast, is getting a demo today. And for those who like their gaming merch physical, a US$180 Lego PlayStation set was officially announced and is out soon.
