Alex Garfin Joins Creature Feature 'Wekiwa,' Stepping Into Role Vacated by Ty Neckar

Alex Garfin has joined the cast of Wekiwa, a creature feature shooting in Orange County, Florida, taking on the role of Patrick — a part previously set for Ty Neckar. The casting places Garfin alongside Billy Zane, Kevin Chapman, C.S. Lee and Alex Trumble in the ensemble, according to Variety.
Richard L. Anderson wrote and directed the film. Anderson's name carries weight in a different corner of the craft: he is a sound designer whose credits include The Lion King, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Poltergeist. Salomé Breziner and Scott Rosenfelt produce.
Garfin is best known for playing Jordan Kent across four seasons of the CW series Superman & Lois. He also voiced Linus in The Peanuts Movie and has appeared in New Amsterdam and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. On the deal side, he is represented by Josh Finn at Paradigm, manager Phillip Grenz at Authentic, and publicist Lizzie Grubman.
The production is among the first to shoot under Orange County, Florida's new Film and Television Incentive Program — a five-year, $25 million initiative funded through tourist development tax revenue and approved by the Board of County Commissioners in November 2025. The programme offers locally shot productions a 20% rebate on local spend, meaning a production that spends money within the county can claw back one dollar in five from that spend. For a regional film economy, that is the kind of structure designed to pull camera crews away from neighbouring states and keep them rolling in central Florida.
No release date or distributor for Wekiwa has been announced.
