Gundam Rogue Orbit arrives March 2027 with a collector's edition built for model-kit fans
Bandai Namco showed off more of Gundam Rogue Orbit during Sony's PlayStation State of Play broadcast on September 3, 2026, revealing a March 5, 2027 launch and a US$160 collector's edition built around an exclusive model kit. The game is heading to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with preorders now open across all three platforms, including Steam on PC.
The new trailer focused on hard-hitting, high-speed combat — players pilot Gundams combining diverse equipment and skills in what Bandai Namco calls "high-mobility" battles. The publisher's official game page describes Gundam Rogue Orbit as a blend of fast-paced cinematic storytelling and gameplay, promising "a bold new take" on the long-running franchise.
What makes Rogue Orbit unusual is the order in which it arrives. The Gundam franchise — a decades-spanning sci-fi property spanning anime, plastic model kits called Gunpla, and games — typically debuts new entries as an anime series and model kit line first, with video games following. This time, the game comes first.
The star of the collector's edition is a High-Grade model kit of the Gundam Helix, a new mobile suit exclusive to the game. High-Grade, or HG, kits are 1/144-scale plastic models designed for casual builders — snap-fit, no glue required. The trailer also teased alternate shells for the Helix, including a skin inspired by the classic RX-78-2 Gundam and a red Zaku-inspired look.
The US$160 package doesn't stop at the model kit. It includes a physical copy of the game, a steel case for the disc, reversible cover art, a poster, a pack of five promo cards, and in-game DLC offering 14 different colour patterns for the Helix.
For Gundam fans, that Helix model kit is the draw. New mobile suits in the franchise usually appear first in an anime or a kit release, not a video game. Owning the collector's edition means building the suit yourself before you've seen it anywhere else in the franchise's media line.
Gundam Rogue Orbit is the latest in a sprawling property that has run continuously since the original 1979 anime. Bandai Namco, which publishes both the games and the Gunpla model kits, has not yet announced an anime tie-in or a retail model-kit line for the Helix beyond this collector's edition inclusion.
Preorders are live now on the PlayStation Store, Xbox storefront, and Steam.
