FX's 'The Drop: A Snowfall Saga' Arrives Tonight, Trading Crack for Hip-Hop
FX's 'The Drop: A Snowfall Saga' premieres tonight, September 8, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on FX and Hulu, and it arrives with a full review from Variety already on the page (Variety, 8 September 2026).
The series is a spinoff of 'Snowfall', the FX drama that ran for six seasons from 2017 to 2023 and tracked the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles. Behind the camera, the creator is Malcolm Spellman, whose previous credits include the Disney+ Marvel series 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier'. The reviews that landed ahead of tonight's premiere offer a sense of tone. Variety places the series closer to a fictionalised version of 'Straight Outta Compton' — the 2015 N.W.A biopic — than a West Coast take on 'The Wire' or 'Narcos' (Variety, 8 September 2026).
