Drake teases Fear of Missing Out film due Sept. 15
Drake has released a teaser for Fear of Missing Out, a self-described “not so short film” set for Sept. 15.
The rapper shared the teaser on Instagram on Saturday, Sept. 12, and described the project as “a not so short film directed and scored by the family,” according to Variety. The post did not spell out a plot or running time. It put a date on the calendar: Sept. 15.
That date had been in play since Sept. 3, when Drake first revealed the Fear of Missing Out title. The full release is expected on YouTube at 9 p.m. on Sept. 15, according to Rolling Stone. YouTube here means a free premiere open to anyone, rather than a cinema booking or a paid streaming exclusive.
The build-up has been slow and visual. Weeks earlier, Drake posted a photo of a CD case with the phrase inscribed on the back, according to Billboard. He then dropped another tease days before the full announcement, which kept the title in circulation before the teaser arrived.
The film follows a heavy run of music. Drake’s recent releases include the albums Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour, which hold 43 songs between them, according to Variety. While promoting Iceman, he installed a 25-foot-tall ice sculpture in a Toronto parking lot. That stunt turned a car park into a photo stop.
For fans, this means a short wait with little detail. Three days separate the teaser and the Sept. 15 release. The credits, length and whether new music lands with the film are still unconfirmed.
