WoW teases The Last Titan's return to Northrend, but Eclipse comes first

Blizzard premiered a new World of Warcraft cinematic during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony, laying groundwork for the next expansion, The Last Titan. The teaser was short. The team put most of its time into the current expansion, Midnight, and how it will end.
World of Warcraft is Blizzard's long-running online role-playing game, where players share a persistent world that grows through expansions, large paid add-ons that add zones and story. Midnight is the current one. Its closing chapter, not the next expansion, drew the detailed briefing.
Midnight will close with a final content patch titled Eclipse. Eclipse builds to a showdown with Xal'atath, the hooded figure who has driven much of the Worldsoul Saga. An in-game cinematic shown at the event spelled out her aim. She plans to merge with Azeroth's worldsoul, the sleeping spirit of the world itself that gives the saga its name.
Blizzard did not stop at story. The studio teased a new standalone game mode still to arrive in Midnight, a separate ruleset played apart from the main campaign. It also teased another Remix experience, a limited-time replay of a past expansion with faster progression and updated rewards. Names, release dates and prices were not given. Both are due before Midnight ends, according to reporting from the show. GameSpot
The Last Titan looks further ahead. It takes players back to Northrend, the snow-covered continent introduced in the 2008 expansion Wrath of the Lich King. That region will be rebuilt from the ground up, rather than reused as it was. Blizzard offered little else on story or systems for now.
The long view has been public for three years. Blizzard first announced The Last Titan at BlizzCon 2023 as part of three expansions revealed together under the name The Worldsoul Saga. Midnight is the second of the three. The Last Titan is the third and final instalment, following Midnight, according to Blizzard. Blizzard
More details on The Last Titan will be shared next year. That timetable keeps Eclipse and the two bonus modes as the near-term focus. The studio framed Eclipse as the climax of Midnight's story, with the fight against Xal'atath to settle before anything else.
What makes this stand out is the sequencing. A glimpse of the next chapter, then a full stop on the current one. For players, this means the path is clear: Eclipse first, Northrend after.
