Yeoh, Edebiri and Depp attend Variety-Chanel Women in Film dinner at TIFF
Variety and Chanel gathered actors and film-makers for their annual Women in Film dinner at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday night.
The dinner honoured the achievements of women and nonbinary film-makers with work in this year's TIFF line-up, according to Variety. TIFF, the Toronto Film Festival, is one of the autumn stops where new films are launched for cinema audiences and awards season.
Two Chanel ambassadors were on the guest list. Actress Ayo Edebiri attended. Actress Lily-Rose Depp attended. They were joined by Michelle Yeoh and Patricia Arquette, Variety reported.
Sarah Paulson was also there. Colman Domingo attended as well. David Harbour attended too, as noted in a Variety social post from the night.
The guest list included performers moving behind the camera. Fala Chen attended as the actor-director of "Bloodline". Courteney Cox launched her directorial debut, "Evil Genius", at TIFF, Variety reported. A directorial debut is a film-maker's first time directing a feature.
The wider festival programme gave the dinner its context. Women directed or co-directed 35% of TIFF's official selection, Variety reported. That figure counts films with a woman as director or as one of the credited co-directors.
