Hearts v Hibs and Rangers v Aberdeen set for Premier Sports Cup semis
Hearts will meet city rivals Hibernian in the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup, while Rangers will play Aberdeen.
The ties will be played at Hampden Park, Scotland's national stadium in Glasgow, on the weekend of 31 October-1 November, according to BBC Sport.
The draw took place on the afternoon of Sunday, 13 September 2026. It was broadcast live on Premier Sports straight after Rangers against Celtic, the Glasgow derby that decided the final semi-final spot SPFL.
That game kicked off at 12pm. Rangers won it at Ibrox, their home ground, to join Hearts, Hibernian and Aberdeen in the last four.
The Premier Sports Cup is Scotland's League Cup, a knockout competition that runs alongside the league season. Teams begin in groups before the survivors move into sudden-death ties where the loser goes out.
Hearts reached this stage with a 3-0 win over Stenhousemuir in the quarter-finals, the round of the last eight. Hibernian also won 3-0, against Ross County. They will now meet in an Edinburgh derby, the name given to any match between the capital's two leading clubs.
Hearts will arrive with confidence. They already beat Hibernian 3-1 at Easter Road, Hibs' home ground, in the Scottish Premiership earlier this season. Cup football is different. Expect noise.
The other tie has its own edge. Aberdeen needed penalties, a shootout from the penalty spot used when teams cannot be separated, to get past Kilmarnock in their quarter-final. Their reward is a meeting with Rangers.
Rangers last lifted this trophy in the 2023-24 season. They beat Aberdeen 1-0 in that final, so this is a repeat of that meeting with a place in another final at stake.
What makes this stand out is how much recent history is packed into both ties. Hearts have already shown they can win away at their rivals, and Aberdeen have reason to want revenge for that final defeat two seasons ago. For fans, this means two big occasions at Hampden before winter, with the first silverware of the Scottish season within touching distance.
