Rangers face Aberdeen as Hearts meet Hibs in Cup semis at Hampden
Hampden Park will host an Edinburgh derby and a Rangers reunion with Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals.
Rangers will face Aberdeen on 31 October at 17:30 BST. Hearts will play Hibernian the following day, 1 November at 15:00. Both ties will be played at Hampden Park, Scotland's national stadium in Glasgow, with the final due there on Sunday 13 December, according to BBC Sport.
The Premier Sports Cup is Scotland's League Cup, a knockout tournament played alongside the regular league season. Teams play one-off ties. Lose, and you are out.
The draw was made live on Premier Sports on Sunday, straight after the Rangers v Celtic quarter-final, the SPFL said. The quarter-finals were scheduled for the weekend of 12 and 13 September.
Rangers booked their place in style. They beat Celtic 3-0 in their quarter-final to set up the first semi-final. Aberdeen joined them after a harder night. They drew 1-1 with Kilmarnock, then won on penalties, a shootout from the penalty spot used when a cup tie is level.
The second semi-final is an Edinburgh derby, the name for a match between the city's two big clubs. Hearts reached it with a 3-0 home win over Stenhousemuir. Hibernian, known as Hibs, earned their spot with a 3-0 away win at Ross County.
What makes this stand out is the mix. One tie brings recent history. The other brings geography.
For fans, this means two loud days at Hampden. Rangers and Aberdeen meet first under the lights on Saturday evening. Hearts and Hibs follow on Sunday afternoon. The winners return to the same stadium in December for the trophy.
