Kaelen Ohm brings her inner extreme skier to TIFF premiere The Betrayers
Kaelen Ohm says the fearless young skier she used to be still drives her work as an actor, filmmaker and musician, she told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on 13 September 2026.
Ohm grew up skiing in Fernie, British Columbia. She was not cautious. That early taste for speed and risk, she said, stayed with her long after she left the slopes for sets and studios.
She spoke as her film The Betrayers held its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. In the film Ohm plays Leora, a mistress to a powerful Israeli politician, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The festival programme describes Leora as a younger staffer who has become the mistress of a man named Baruch, and places the pair in Yalta, according to TIFF.
It is the latest step in a steady screen career. Ohm had early television roles in Hell on Wheels, Taken and Murdoch Mysteries. She also made a one-episode appearance on Condor alongside Brendan Fraser.
In 2020 she played Danielle in Netflix's Hit & Run. Danielle is a gifted American dancer who is killed in a car accident in the first episode. Her husband in the series is played by Lior Raz.
Ohm later joined the MGM+ series From in its second season. She played Mariella 'Mari' Sinclair, a paediatric nurse living with opioid addiction. Mari dies in the season four finale, killed by the character Smiley, played by Jamie McGuire.
In 2023 she took the lead in the dark comedy Last County as an alcoholic woman in a marriage on the rocks.
What makes this stand out is the direct line Ohm draws between physical courage and creative work. For viewers meeting her in Yalta, in From or in earlier roles, that background gives a simple way to understand how she approaches a character: commit fully, and keep moving downhill.
