Sony casts Hoeferle and Campbell to lead Fake Skating

Amélie Hoeferle and Graham Campbell will star in Fake Skating, Sony Pictures' film version of Lynn Painter's New York Times best-selling book, as reported by Deadline in an exclusive published on 24 September 2026.
The project pairs Sony Pictures with Olive Bridge Entertainment, the production company led by Will Gluck. Casting puts faces to the central roles and gives the romance its starting point.
Josh Boone will direct, according to Deadline. Boone previously directed The Fault in Our Stars, as noted by Deadline.
The script began with a first draft by Morgan Lehmann and Victoria Bata, with revisions by Boone and Knate Lee, Deadline reported. That chain is normal in studio filmmaking, where writers hand off drafts for rewrites before shooting.
Behind the camera, Will Gluck and Jacqueline Monetta are producing. Madison Jones is executive producing for Olive Bridge Entertainment, a senior overseeing role, alongside author Lynn Painter as executive producer.
The film is lined up for summer next year. Sony had dated it for July 2027, which sits squarely in the summer corridor when studios place their broadest releases.
For fans, this means the book is now firmly on the path to the screen. Leads attached. Director set. Date held. Cameras come next.
